Some notice is always nice
When I picked Enzo up from daycare today, I noticed a sign on the door to his room that was asking parents to sign up for what days their children would be attending the week of Christmas, and that next week, the daycare would be closed on Thursday and Friday for Christmas. Next week? Christmas is 5 days away! The sign wasn't there last week, and it wasn't even there this morning. I was planning that they would be closed on Friday, and wasn't worried about that since Julian is off that day. I was left scrambling to find care for him for Thursday at 16:30 this afternoon. I called Julian at work and told him and I also called my sister. The thing I was worried about is that if either of us calls in sick on Thursday, we don't get paid for the holiday on Friday. Nice. He asked his boss, and was told he could stay home on Thursday and still get paid holiday pay for Friday. Lucky bastard. So he might get a 4-day weekend out of this. I don't suppose I should complain too much, since I'm taking a half-day off on Wednesday, and then I'll be off all week next week. Woot!
Enzo was invited today to the birthday party of one of his daycare friends. The party is on New Year's Eve, at about 4 in the afternoon. We'll probably go. Well, when I say "we" I mean Enzo and me. Who needs champagne when you can be around a room full of sugar-fueled toddlers?
