Another afternoon out and about
Enzo and I went downtown again today. We didn't stay out for very long, since it was much colder than I anticipated, due to the wind.
I took some photos.
This first set is from the Cathedral of St. Andrew. It's the oldest church building in Little Rock and was constructed from (I believe) 1887-1891. It's beautiful inside, but I really didn't want to go trekking around inside with my toddler. Maybe I can get some photos inside another time. Personal note: the one and only time I have been to a mass in Latin was in this cathedral on Christmas day, probably about 7 years ago.
Here's the statue of St. Andrew from the front:
And here are the doors:
The next few photos are at or near the Clinton Presidential Library:
Here is the library itself:
There are parking spaces at the library where you can charge your electric car. I think this is so cool.
The next few are near the library.
This is some tiled decoration under the freeway where it passes over President Clinton Avenue (or whatever they renamed the street to be).
A detail of some tiles.
A bronze statue of an eagle. It says on the plaque below that it is the Eagle of the Rock. It also has the name of the same family that I talked about in regard to the Christmas lights. They're everywhere!
And last, but not least, one of the trolleys that services the downtown area. These just started running last month. It seems like a pretty good deal, price-wise. I haven't ridden one yet. The sign says that they run until 22:00 during the week, and 00:00 on weekends, and it's $0,50 for adults and children under 5 are free.

It's downtown, right along the river. That thing you see in the background that looks like it could be a Wal-Mart is (I think) the National Archives building. I'll try to get some pics that show the library in relation to the rest of the city.
Here's a link to a map/directions to the library.
It's just on the edge of downtown LR.
