So much for separation of church and state. This is on the grounds just outside the capitol. I think it's maintained by an outside group, but it shows up every year, and has for as long as I can remember. It's really beautiful. The figures are all wooden, and although you can't see it, there are additional animals to both sides.

I agree totally...but if you really want to talk about overkill and "less is more", check out this site. It's the official site of another Little Rock family. Check the Christmas Lights link.

To make a long story short, their entire property was covered in lights. Traffic was horrendous from the people cruising through just to see the lights. Their neighbours actually filed a lawsuit to get the lights turned off. Now they have a light display at Disney World, and in other cities around Arkansas.

LOL your story about the traffic and lights reminds me of a house where I grew up. However, we all loved it. They put on a great display each year, always different, it was amazing and something everyone went to go see. They eventually stopped doing it because it was too expensive....perhaps us Canadians just like our lights a bit more;) hahaha

Katrina, we like lights but you have to understand about this house. It's on one of the major east-west streets in Little Rock, 2 lanes in each direction. Traffic would be backed up in both directions for miles. It was hard for emergency vehicles to get through because of this, plus I'm sure the surrounding houses had quite a glow coming in their windows, in addition to being very difficult to leave or get into their houses after dark. I think the guy who put the lights up actually hired off-duty police officers just to help direct traffic around his house to make it a little easier on his neighbours.
