All that worry for nothing
This last week, I've been really worried about money. Namely, not having enough of it. Julian and I both got paid today, and I think we're going to make it. After I pay the rent and my student loan payment, I'll have over $400 left. I've already paid Comcast for our internet service for the month, so that leaves the cell phone bill and the electric bill. No problem. I have a couple of Christmas gifts left to buy. Julian informed me yesterday that he needs $5 today to contribute for a gift for his manager, and a "Secret Santa" gift for some guy who works with him under $10. Then I also received (finally!) an email from my sister with what her girls want. One of them wants a couple of CDs and the other wants some DVDs, so I think I can hook that up. Julian wants World of Warcraft and he also mentioned the Extended Version of LOTR: Return of the King.
Have I mentioned that I'm off today? Woo-hoo! It's so nice to be off and to have some money. So, given the nature of the gifts everyone is asking for, I'm feeling a trip to Best Buy coming on.
Also, my Victoria's Secret gift left Memphis last night, according to the shipment tracker. So in a few days, I'll have this:
to wrap and put under the tree for me. All for under $30, including tax and shipping. I think I did okay.
It's coming together. I think this will be an okay Christmas. And I'll be able to pay for it without the use of credit cards. Even better.

I really want the iPod for running and listening to in the car. My car is currently equipped with a radio and a tape player. Do you know how many tapes I own? All of them fit in the console of the car.
I can imagine you'd get some strange looks singing Beyoncé in the streets there. You should try singing "It's Raining Men." That would surely draw some attention. One of my coworkers has that set as the ID ringtone for another one of our coworkers who's pretty...um, flaming.
I enjoy giving (and receiving) gifts. I would do it more often, but I unfortunately do not have the financial resources of, say Bill Gates. If I did, it would be like Christmas all year long. Since my checkbook balance is just slightly smaller than his, I'm limited to Christmas and birthdays. Of course, my immediate family gets basically whatever they want all year long (with the exception of myself).
You make or have made your own pasta before? That's so cool. I used to when I still lived with my mom, because her kitchen was bigger and better suited for pasta-making. I had a little stand that I had made for myslf to hang pasta on to dry. It was a big wooden dowel that I set vertically into a base, then drilled holes down the side into which I could insert smaller dowels that would stick out horizontally and hold the pasta. Then when it was dry, I could just pull out the dowel with all the pasta and do whatever I needed with it.
And just for the record, I wasn't insinuating that you are a flamer. When you mentioned walking around singing Beyoncé, the next logical step for my brain was the raining men song. Perhaps it's because I've heard it several times in the past week. There's nothing wrong with the lifestyle. Different strokes for different folks. I went to high school and also worked with a guy who does shows in drag at a local club, and also went on the Sally Jessy Raphael show a few years back for an episode about "Can you tell if I'm a man or a woman?" He was actually pretty believable in drag. I've heard all the stories from his nights at the club...but that's something to share over drinks, if it gets shared at all.
the VS gift is for you or your porteno?? santa (my parents and I) got my sis an iPod mini this year. She will be psyched. If my iPod were a woman, I'd elope with her tomorrow.
I think the VS gift is a gift that will keep giving, if you know what I mean.
I'm so jealous that your sister's getting an iPod mini. Of course I won't be so jealous if I have one in a week. I was talking to my mom about it yesterday and she was playing really dumb about it. I don't know if that's a good sign or not. She either is a)totally oblivious and has no idea what it is, so I'm not getting one or b) already got it wrapped and trying to throw me off.
I'm hoping for B.
Does Vani know that you'd elope with your iPod? Maybe that could be the international sex scandal we've all been waiting for.
hehe. yes i think va knows of my love for my iPod. Her unrequited love is for a human being- Robbie Williams.
Even better...it's not a love triangle, it's a love...quadrilateral, square, rectangle...what shape is it when there's 4 involved?
You've got 3 continents and a piece of electronics. I smell a best-seller. :)
