A funny story about this word: when I was taking beginning Spanish a few years back, I had to write sentences about what I wanted to be, career-wise. I got a little confused and wrote that I wanted to be a desk instead of a writer. Oops. I suppose being a desk could be a noble pursuit -- for a tree!
