Does money talk?

Tomorrow is Not One Damn Dime Day. The premise is not to spend any money for 24 hours in a boycott of sorts to speak out about our displeasure in Bush and the way he's handled the situation in Iraq. From their website:

On "Not One Damn Dime Day" those who oppose what is happening in our name in Iraq can speak up with a 24-hour national boycott of all forms of consumer spending.

During "Not One Damn Dime Day" please don't spend money, and don't use your credit card. Not one damn dime for gasoline. Not one damn dime for necessities or for impulse purchases. Nor toll/cab/bus or train ride money exchanges. Not one damn dime for anything for 24 hours.

Will anyone take notice if enough people participate?

Working to stabalize the Middle East and stop tyranny in Iraq does not seem to be such a bad thing. Wonder why someone would think it was?

In theory, it sounds like a great idea to me. Make Iraq a free nation, peace in the Middle East, all the rhetoric.

What I oppose is the way it all happened and is still happening. Our nation (and its Congress) were misled about the presence of WMDs. Our troops are under-equipped over there. Soldiers are being killed because of insufficiently armoured vehicles. And this is something that was brought up to Rumsfeld and he basically said, "Too bad, so sad." I'll have to find his exact quote on the issue. It was something about going to war with the army we have, not the army we want. And then we have Gonzalez and the torture issue. Abu Ghraib, anyone? So we liberated it from Saddam and turned it into our own torture chamber. And now a soldier who was following orders from his commander (or whomever higher up the food chain) has been found guilty and sentenced to prison.

I could go on, but I'll spare you. These are a few reasons why I'm not pro-Bush administration or pro-Iraq war. I'm really not pro-any war, for that matter.
