Under new law, floating checks no longer float

I really don't write many checks as it is now, but this is something to consider for those who do. After October 28, checks can be turned into a scanned image to present for payment instead of having to send the paper check to the bank for payment, cutting processing time from days to seconds.

I could not live without a check card. I think the only checks I have written in the past 3 years are for home delivered food.

I write checks at some fast food restaurants if they don't take debit/credit, I write a check for my car payment, my rent, and my electric bill. Everything else I either have auto-deducted or I pay with debit card.

I learned my lesson about floating checks a long time ago. It was my first checking account, and I ended up something like $400 overdrawn. My mom bailed me out and closed the account.
