Grocery shopping
I've been taking care of my shopping on Saturdays for the last few months, so I'd have Sunday free to do what I choose. Since next Saturday will be my last non-working Saturday in the foreseeable future, I'm either going to have to go to the store later in the day or on a different day.
I've been grocery shopping at Wal Mart lately, since it's a little cheaper and I have the bonus of being able to consolidate the groceries and Wal Mart items into one purchase/one trip. That's great when shopping with a toddler.
The store I go to is only a couple of months old, and looks nothing like most other Wal Marts that I've seen.
Inside, the parts that would normally be tiled with the standard commercial tile is a brownish-burgundy tinted poured concrete floor. The parts that would normally be carpeted are finished with what appears to be a Pergo-esque substance. Looks like wood.

You must live with your camera.
We need the inside of your car next so we can see how you get to Wally World, lol.
I guess they felt it was time to upgrade. Our new Wal-Mart is slightly classier than the old one. Now if they just add a coffee bar.
Maybe a deal between Starbucks and Wal Mart is coming...put a coffee shop in the front of every Wal Mart. Ha!
And I do have a photo of the inside of my car - kind of.
Check it out.
Oh, one more thing. I do carry my camera with me in my bag constantly, since you never know when or when the magic's gonna happen, and I want to be prepared.
So, yes I may be a bit of a nerd in that respect. But a prepared nerd. I'm ready to photograph anything and everything that comes along. I've apparently passed that along to my son, since he's always asking me to photograph things that we see out, because he likes to look at the pictures later.
Isn't it un-American or un-patriotic or something like that not to shop at Wal Mart? :)
I can resist the siren song of Starbucks, even though it's so convenient. There's one across the street from daycare, and even one in my work building.
The problem I have with not shopping at Wal Mart is just that it's so easy. I can get basically everything that I need in one stop. Do I sound too much like a commercial?
Where do you recommend that your mom shop as an alternative to W-M? I'm open to ideas.
The closest grocery store to me is Kroger. There are a couple of independent grocers, but they tend to stock more specialty-type items, and are a little more expensive. There's one that I go to to get tomato paste in a tube and prosciutto.
I don't have many options, unfortunately.
I do try to patronize local coffee shops instead of Starbucks. There's a couple from Colombia who own a coffee shop in the river market and they roast their own beans. Yummy. Buying from them makes me feel a little better, like my money's actually staying in the community.
