The Christmas celebration has come and gone. We've been to my mom's house and back already. We left earlier than we normally would have since the roads are still yucky and really didn't want to be out past dark.
We ate lunch there and then opened our gifts.
Enzo racked up, as usual. He got:
Maybe I'm just a spoiled bitch. Or maybe I'm just practical. I'd rather buy things for people that I know they want and/or need instead of buying them crap for the sake of giving them something.
Again, I'm thankful for the things that I received, the things that I have, and for my family. Just the post-Christmas let-down talking here. It'll be okay. Maybe I can get the iPod for my birthday next month. Or maybe I'll just have to break down and buy it for myself.

I agree with you completely Carrie. people should either give something that you want or is personal to you, or not give anything at all. enough with all the gifts that are given simply to allay the giver's guilt. [say that 10 times fast]. b/c thats just a waste. not sure thats what you meant but i thought i'd rant a bit.
That's it exactly! I went out of my way to buy things for my family that they either needed or wanted. What do I get in return? A box for filing photos. I haven't had photos developed in over 2 years since I have a digital camera. Thanks.
But my sister has a history of being a frugal gift-giver. She and her family are well-off. They own their own home construction business. So it's not that she can't afford to buy nice gifts. She just doesn't. Case in point: my 25th birthday. From her, I got a Winnie the Pooh photo album and her old broken camcorder. She knew that we didn't have a camcorder and suggested that I check into getting it fixed and I could have it. I checked, and getting the thing repaired was going to cost more than buying a brand-new higher end camera. Thanks, but no. That was like a slap in the face. And for the record, she's the one who gave me the photo filing box.
uhhh. does she read your blog? not that it really should matter.
granted i am a grinch. but don't think you are a spoiled bitch for one second. you are totally right.
No it doesn't really matter, and no she doesn't read my blog.
#1 She's too busy with their business concerns
#2 They don't have any type of high-speed internet access available where they live, so it would take 10 years for the page to load even if she knew it existed, wanted to read, etc.
I'm happy to provide some amusement for your life. Also happy to know that I'm not a spoiled bitch and that others share my opinion. Julián would probably go for the kill and just say that I'm a bitch. Forget spoiled.
The book sounds really neat!
I might have to go get my iPod next week when I get paid. That check will have my OT on it, plus I'm getting a holiday bonus this year for the first time since I've been with the company. It's not a whole lot, $100, but it should be here any day now. So that only leaves $150 that I'd have to pay out of my actual check. Hmmm... and my 6.5 hours of OT will come out to be about that amount. Sounds like we might have a winner. It would be nicer if I didn't have to buy it myself, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do to get the pink iPod mini sometimes.
go for it! sure seems like you deserve it!
