The big boy bed is complete!
I had it mostly finished yesterday. I got the support legs on, and all I was lacking was one of the side guard rails. Enzo slept in it last night, and of course rolled off the side without a rail. He didn't wake up when he fell, or when I picked him up and put him back in the bed.
After a great deal of struggling, I was able to get the other rail on after using my lighter on it. The plastic part that's supposed to pop around the metail pole wasn't wide enough. I warmed it up so it was a little more pliable and then got it to work! Julian didn't think of that one. He told me to just give it up. Heh.

Love that picture, he looks so pleased with himself being able to sleep in a "big boy" bed!:)
Cute little boy!
We had a "big girl bed" for our daughter too... but she hated it, and slept on the floor most nights! After about two months we gave up and got her a twin bed. Glad your little guy is happy with it!
Another milestone made possible by a creative pyro mother.
I'm not a pyro! I'm just a mommy who does what's needed to deliver the finished product for her little boy.
Wait...that sounded bad. Anyway, it's not as if I'm burning things all day. And the application of the lighter to the bed pieces wasn't that bad. I was very careful. If you examine the pieces, you'll find no marks, no discolouration. So there.
And Julian, I don't remember mentioning the lighter to you. You came back to help me try to get that damn rail on and we had the bed turned on the side. After trying to apply the rail to the bed and failing, I believe that was when you said, "Might as well give it up. Move the bed in the corner so that side is next to the wall." I didn't want to give up, so I sat back there a little longer after you left, and that's when I was struck with divine inspiration. I came out and secretly got the lighter and went to work.
By the way, honey, have you commented on everything I posted this week? :P
Pyro's usually burn things in secret. Kind of like you secretly getting the lighter, waiting for hubby to leave the room, and like he said, thankfully the Lord did not leave, Whew!
Good job Carrie. I bet everyone feels safer when you are running (without a lighter).
Give me a break, people. Especially those who cohabitate with me.
The fact of the matter was that you told me to give it up and that was unacceptable to me. I was not going to be defeated by a piece of childrens furniture! :)
Enzo judging us? Now THAT'S a frightening thought.
